As Lebanon heads towards
parliamentary elections
in June, investors and
consumers alike are
waiting to see whether
the coming months will
be punctuated with the
violence that has marred
previous polls,
upsetting the country’s
fragile stability. The
elections – expected to

FFA
Private Bank announce the successful completion of
a private equity placement of an approximate 86%
equity stake in NAAS Bekfaya Mineral Water Company
Sal.
The
shares have been acquired by FFA Private Bank and a
group of Lebanese investors to re-launch the
Company’s activity while capitalizing on its
renowned brand and unique water virtues.
The vision of the new shareholders is to create one
of the world’s most luxurious wellness resorts in
the heart of the Lebanese mountains.
Lebanese premium chocolate
maker Patchi is planning stock listings in Dubai and
London to fund global expansion, The
 Financial
Times reported.The company has hired financial
advisers for a primary listing in Dubai and a
secondary listing in London, the FT said Patchi's
global expansion may include a new line of cafés.The
cafés would be "like Starbucks but at a higher
level", Mazin Obeidi, executive general manager told
the Financial Times, adding that Patchi would be
"very likely" to open its first café in Lebanon next
year.Patchi's customers, particularly in Singapore
and Malaysia, had been asking for the cafés, Obeidi
said. "There is café demand everywhere in the world.

measures governing the diamond trade,
a tersely worded report said last week.
The Kimberly Process Certification
Scheme (KPCS or KP), is a non-legally
binding process sanctioned by the UN in
2003 aimed at certifying the origin of
rough diamonds from sources free of
conflict fueled by diamond
production.The certification scheme is
designed to prevent conflict-diamonds
from entering the mainstream
rough-diamond market and was established
to assure ethical consumers that their
purchases were not financing war and
human-rights abuses.
